My daughter needs to get her "5 year old" shots tomorrow and I am freaking out! Anyone have any info on how common it is for 4-6 year olds to have adverse reactions to vaccines? She got through all of her "baby" shots just fine, but now I am much more educated about vaccines and they scare the he!! out of me. I am not talking about minor adverse reactions. i am talking about scary, life altering reactions. Also, she was sick last week, but was better by Friday. Do you think her immune system is strong enough to get the vaccones tomorrow (Thursday)? Any encouraging words are also appreciated. I feel like now that I know the true dangers of the vaccines, if something happens to her, it is all my fault.

I have dealt with this issue (adverse reactions to vaccinations) and can speak from experience. Given that your daughter has had no prior issue I would say that it is very likely that it is very, very safe and you have very little if anything to worry about. The real dangers are the baby vaccines. My son had a reaction and needed to get an acellular vaccination in the future. My brother also died a day after having gotten vaccines at 4 months. There is also a great deal of discussion about the potential of autism being linked to vaccinations. This is something that is caused at an earlier age than your daughter. I have read a great deal about this and didn't find anything relative to a negative relationship between kindergarten vaccines and serious reactions. Have some tylenol handy just in case she doesn't feel entirely well following the vaccines. Good luck, it will be fine!

You can have your doctor check "titers" for the diseases the shots are for. This determines if your child already has immunity and does not need the additional boosters. You can make you doctor do this if you are concerned-I highly advise it. They think nothing of just shooting them up whether its needed or not-fricking stupid.
God knows how much cancer and arthritis and lupus the fools have needlessly caused. go here for inf. http://www.vaclib.org/
